Description:
Where do I use a BR light bulb? This BR30 LED Light Bulb is suitable for E26 socket light fixtures, including downlights and recessed cans for living areas, hallways, offices, and above kitchen counters. These directional flood lights provide a wide beam spread for wall washing or to cast a wide pool of light in a room. Is this light waterproof? It is not wet rated, but you can use Sunco BR bulbs outside in damp zones with no direct exposure to water. Use it in covered porch lights, in protected patio areas, and other places where condensation might occur, but no water seeps through to the bulb. What is the difference between a PAR and a BR Bulb? While both PAR and BR bulb types rely on a reflector to direct the light beam, are dimmable, use 120VAC, and feature an E26 base, there are major differences in the light produced by each bulb. There are also some unique qualities about LED PAR and LED BR bulbs. The major difference in light produced by these LED bulbs: PARs produce a spotlight (a narrow beam), BR bulbs are considered to be a flood light (wide beam angle). What do the numbers on a BR bulb mean? Manufacturers use standard numbers like BR30 to indicate the bulb size. The number indicates the diameter of the lamp portion, not the base of the bulb. Diameter for these two bulb types is measured in eighths of an inch. Example: BR30 = 30/8 inches or approximately 3 3/4” (Sunco BR Diameters: BR20 = 2.5”, BR30 = 3.74”, BR40 = 4.72”) Traditional BR bulbs include a bulged reflector on the inside of the housing to increase light output. You will notice the bulging shape on our BR LEDs above the socket base (when looking at the bulb from the side like in the graph above). What does a 110-degree beam angle create? The beam angle affects the shape of the light produced. Sunco BR bulbs are wide flood lights with their 110-degree beam angle. That means they case a wide pool of light. This makes it suitable for wall washes, as multiple downlights to create general room illumination or ambient light in a large room, and for use in recessed cans to light up a kitchen, stairwell, hallway, entryway, office conference room, or living room. The light BR bulbs produce is of a softer quality than a PAR. Some might say the edges are not as crisp. The soft-edge of the light beam produced by Sunco BR LED Bulbs will create a nice wall wash in interior light fixtures or a great downlight to illuminate a space in a recessed ceiling can. BR bulbs tend to produce fewer shadows. What are warm lights or cool lights? What about color temperature? Color temperatures are measured in degrees of Kelvin (K) on a scale from 1,000 to 10,000. This measurement allows you to describe the quality of a light. Commercial and residential lighting applications typically use from 2000K to 65000K color temperatures. Lower color temperatures offer a warmer look. They are more amber, yellow, or a warm white. High color temperatures offer a cooler look. They range from white to blue to blueish silver. Light can help create a mood or define room ambiance. You can recognize color temperatures in the world around you once you have a general understanding of them. Here are some basics to help with that: Candlelight - 2200K, Morning Sun – 2000K to 3000K, Middday (noon to 1p.m.) or Daylight - 5000K to 6000K, Evening Sun – less than 2000K Are Sunco LED bulbs like this one recyclable? Yes! Sunco LED bulbs are recyclable. Sunco LED lights do NOT contain mercury, unlike CFL bulbs or other traditional incandescent bulbs might. Our light bulbs contain recyclable components so you should be able to recycle them with your curbside recycling service or solid waste management company. Also note that Sunco packaging is fully recyclable and the cardboard shipping boxes are reusable as well as recyclable. Recycling makes a difference! Join Sunco and be a part of a better tomorrow.
