Each of the three stages of filtration offer a different level of protection. The first stage housing holds a 5-micron polypropylene sediment filter that removes dirt and various larger-sized particles from the water that can clog the following two filters. The second stage of the WGB32B-KS has a GAC+KDF filter designed to remove chlorine, lead, mercury, hydrogen sulfide, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, odors, and other contaminants from the water. The third stage of the WGB32B-KS houses a 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filter that knocks out bad tastes and odors, removes up to 99% of chlorine from the water, and is highly effective on pesticides, herbicides, and industrial chemicals.
