The wood log holder captures the embers above the fireplace floor leading to intense heat for BTU generation and ease of “tending the fire”. With this grate you literally just through a log on the fire once you get those embers glowing and each log burns evenly and consistently. The fireplace grate gets the fire up off the floor of fireplace, allows good airflow which means less time stoking the fire and more time enjoying the warmth and crackling. Preferred the flat 'bar' stock on this one as opposed to the square bar stock used for most because logs tend to stay put better. Perfect depth on the 'floor' of the grate allows 3-4 good sized logs. Tips to Purchase a Solid Perfect Fireplace Grate: a. Measure your firebox correctly, and ensure the grate fits, you may put two smaller grates in a larger firebox. b. When deciding on a grate with large spaces like other suppliers, keep in mind that too much air circulation can be as bad as not enough. If too much vent, not quite enough iron to keep hot embers near the wood... so fires are smoky and required a lot of those little starter bricks to create embers from the kindling and keep the wood hot enough to completely burn. c.
