ROOTED IN THE TRADITIONS OF THE GREEK ISLAND OF CHIOS Tangerines from the Greek island of Chios are the star ingredient in this award-winning, traditional marmalade. Known as the Chios Mandarin (“citrus deliciose tenore”), the fruit is a product of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), grown only in small orchards on the island, and with a bolder aroma and much more intense flavor than the common clementine mandarin that most of us are familiar with. The Chios Mandarin and other citrus varieties brought centuries ago to the island by the Venetians are a source of pride for the island’s farmers, who continue to cultivate these fruits with a deep respect for their natural environment and cultural roots.
