This zinc anode rod measures 42 inches and is equipped with a 3/4 inch NPT nipple connection. This easy-to-install zinc rod is made with a flexible carbon steel cable and 4 sections of zinc or aluminum rod with a diameter of 5/8 inches. The rod corrodes through electrolysis, a process that protects the steel walls of the water heater by attracting corrosion to a more noble metal that helps prevent the "rotten egg smell" of sulfur.
