Description:
See other customers' comments: 1. I have a tandem kayak for which I used the J-bar racks for the first time. The straps were way too short (smaller kayaks may be fine), so I ended up using my own straps I purchased from Costco. Short trip to local beach was uneventful. I have not braved the highway yet. 2. It does not include the bow and stern tie downs which are good to have but not 100% necessary depending on how far, where you go and speed...you will definitely need them on highway. 3. I love that they can fold down flat along the roof line when not using them, they may work for smaller kayaks and paddle boards but unfortunately they would not hold my 10' paddle boards. 4. I also cut 2 pieces from the foam wraps provided in the box to pad them underneath the upper bracket to further protect my new crossbar from getting marred, although a set of thin rubber pads are provided for each bracket. 5. I could lower them when not howling the kayaks and to allow clearance for garage parking.
