Shuisen Attic Ladder Kit Power Arm Assy, PR315500-LH & PR315500-RH Attic Ladder Hinge Left and Right Hand Kit, Pull Down Attic Stair Parts Package Include 1×PR315500-LH attic ladder hinge left hand 1×PR315500-RH attic ladder hinge right hand (Note: You need two people to install it, and you need strong arms if one person is installing it.) Description 1.The stairway must be in the closed position. One person should be in the attic and the other should be on the ground floor to place a temporary 2x4 support opposite the hinge end of the-stairway to secure the stairway in the closed position. 2.With the temporary support in place under the stairway door, the tension springs can be removed by removing the nut from the carriage bolt that attaches to the side rail of the top section of the unit. 3. Remove the nut using a 1/2" open-end wrench or ratchet, drive the bolt out, and the stairway power arm assembly should be free of the stairway. 4. To replace, place the new power arm pivot plate in the exact location of the one reioved, drill a 1/4" hole through the pivot plate holes(The ones not used by the rivets), into the side of the stairway. Attach the pivot plate with two 1/4" x 2 1/2" lag screws (not inicluded), through the stairway frame and into the ceiling joist. 5.Attach the power arm to the climbing section with the bolt and nut that was removed to remove the old power arm. 6.Repeat this process for replacing the power arm on the opposite side ofthe stairway. 7.Once the power arms have been replaced, close the stairway and reposition the temporary support under the stairway door. 8.Re-install the tension springs. 9.The temporary support can now be removed and the stairway is ready for use.
